The Big Golf Garage Sale raised £360 for Macmillan Cancer Support
With store room crammed full of unclaimed golf clubs and equipment, the team at Richmond Park Golf Course came up with the idea of hosting a garage sale to help create some much needed space. Over 70,000 rounds are played at the venue each year, making it one of the UK’s most popular golfing destinations. That inevitably means that lots of golfing paraphernalia gets handed in as lost property – much of it goes unclaimed.
All the lost property was put on sale at rock-bottom prices, in an effort to recycle the unclaimed items rather than them ending up being thrown away, with 100% of the proceeds donated to charity.
A queue of bargain hunters awaited as we opened the sale, and within a couple of hours most of the stock had been sold. Delighted golfers walked away with Motocaddy trolleys for just £10, Callaway drivers for a fiver and full sets made up odd irons and woods for just a quid each! We even threw in some tasty mince pies and coffee.
We’re overjoyed that so many people turned up to helped us raise a total of £360. This will all be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support to help their amazing efforts. Find out more about Macmillan.
Don’t worry if you missed out this time – we’ll be hosting another event next season!
