Also, any heavy vehicle tyre ruts, all new and established drainage channels, any area of ground that is affected by the removal or transplanting of trees and any areas of extensive bare patches due to previous standing water.
A ball on the green which comes to rest ON or IN an aeration hole made by greenkeeping staff can be marked, lifted, cleaned and placed at the nearest spot, not nearer the hole, which avoids such situation.
SPECIAL RULE: If a ball lands in a bunker and comes to rest in an area of “unusual damage” (e.g. footprint, paw print, tyre rut), that area alone will be deemed GUR and the ball can be lifted, cleaned and dropped at nearest point of relief (WITHIN THE BUNKER) no nearer the hole, without penalty.
PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULES: Matchplay: loss of hole; Strokeplay: two strokes
