A great Par 4 on the spine of Portsdown Hill. The 2nd reveals spectacular views over the Solent to the left of the hole and requires an accurate tee shot to avoid trouble left and right.
The 8th is a downhill, dog leg Par 4 sloping to the right. Favour the left side of the fairway here to allow for the slope to take your ball towards the green.
A good tee shot will leave a short iron in to a well protected green.
A testing Par 5 that slopes left to right for the duration of the hole. Keeping the ball to the left side of the fairway will eliminate the trouble down the right side.
A sweeping Par 5 that dog legs to the right. Three good shots are required here to reach the green although the bigger hitters may be able to reach in two.
The 13th has a copse of trees in the middle of the fairway. The safe way to play the hole will be to hit your tee shot to the right of the copse, to a fairway that feeds down towards the green.
With the right wind conditions, and a good hit the bigger hitter can potentially clear the copse leaving a shorter iron in.
A testing short Par 4 that has a small pond at the base of the slope. A good tee shot will carry this and leave a shot of less than 150 yds to the green.
The pond tends to be dry in the summer months but still provides a hazard that needs to be navigated. A par here is a good score.
The first half of this hole is tree lined and requires an accurate tee shot to hit the fairway. The hole dog legs to the right so a tee shot shaped this way will make the hole play a little shorter. A well protected green awaits which is overlooked by the clubhouse terrace.
A well-earned refreshment awaits in our clubhouse once the final putt has been sunk!
