Hole 1

Par 5 | 519 yards

Get ready for an epic parkland golf experience starting right from the first hole at Windmill Hill Golf Course!

This par-5 opening hole, measuring over 500 yards, sets the stage for what’s to come. You’ll feel the influence of legendary three-time Open Champion, Sir Henry Cotton, whose design leaves a clear mark from your very first swing.

Hole 2

Par 4 | 401 yards

This long Par 4 demands a solid tee shot. Be wary of the bushes that pinch into the fairway around 220 yards – the ball tends to bounce towards them.

Playing to the middle of the green on your approach is often smarter than chasing the flag.

Hole 3

Par 3 | 148 yards

A seemingly straightforward Par 3, but don’t be fooled. The green can be deceptively tricky.

Pay close attention to the pin position and trust your yardage. Missing long can leave a tough chip.

Hole 4

Par 5 | 483 yards

A reachable Par 5 for longer hitters, but risk-reward is at play. The further you go around the dogleg left, the easier your approach, but trees will gobble up an ambitious hook.

A well-placed lay-up is often the sensible play.

Hole 5

Par 4 | 381 yards

This Par 4 requires precision off the tee.

Aim for the centre-right of the fairway, as approaches from the left can find the gradient and make it difficult to hold the green, especially in drier conditions.

Hole 6

Par 4 | 383 yards

A good length Par 4 with a generous tee shot landing area.

The approach shot is tighter with trouble long, left, and right, plus a wicked downslope at the front. In summer, landing your approach short of the green and letting it release is often the best strategy.

Hole 7

Par 3 | 228 yards

The longest Par 3 on the course, often playing into the wind. Take an extra club and aim for the heart of the green.

Missing short or right can lead to a difficult up-and-down.

Hole 8

Par 4 | 409 yards

Keep your tee shot left of centre on this slight dogleg right. Being too far right off the tee will block out your approach to the green.

The green complex has subtle breaks.

Hole 9

Par 5 | 503 yards

A classic closing hole for the front nine. Longer hitters can go for it in two, but a sensible lay-up will leave a short iron or wedge into a well-bunkered green.

The safe play is often a three-shot hole.

Hole 10

Par 4 | 442 yards

A challenging start to the back nine. This long Par 4 often plays tougher than its stroke index suggests.

A straight tee shot is paramount to avoid the trees. Focus on a solid, controlled swing.

Hole 11

Par 4 | 442 yards

Another long Par 4 where accuracy off the tee is key. The green is well-protected, so a precise approach is essential.

Consider playing for the centre of the green rather than chasing a tucked pin.

Hole 12

Par 3 | 190 yards

Often considered the signature Par 3 at Windmill Hill due to its water hazard guarding the front.

Commit to your club choice and aim to clear the water. Anything short is wet.

Hole 13

Par 4 | 337 yards

A shorter Par 4 that offers a good birdie opportunity. Aim for the middle of the green on your approach.

There’s plenty of space to the left of the green, so that’s the side to miss if you’re slightly off target.

Hole 14

Par 4 | 340 yards

A relatively short Par 4.

Everything feeds from left to right as it approaches the green, so aim at the silver birch tree just left of the green to use the slope to your advantage.

Hole 15

Par 3 | 161 yards

This Par 3 requires a precise iron shot. Be mindful of the bunkers guarding the green.

If the pin is tucked away, playing to the heart of the green will often leave an uphill, makable putt.

Hole 16

Par 4 | 448 yards

The toughest Par 4 on the course, demanding two excellent shots.

A long, straight drive is crucial to set up a mid-to-long iron approach. Bogey is often a good score here.

Hole 17

Par 5 | 446 yards

A reachable Par 5 for many, but strategic play is rewarded.

You can either land your approach short of the green and let it roll down the hill or land it in the middle of the green where it should stop quickly against an upslope.

Hole 18

Par 5 | 481 yards

A challenging finishing Par 5. The line off the tee, whether you lay up or go for it in two, is along the path just right of the centre of the fairway.

Be aware of the out of bounds on the left. A solid finish can salvage your round!
