Five reasons why golfers should get excited this January

Make 2024 your best golfing year, ever!

If you’re a golfer, then it’s been a painful few weeks. Relentless rain, temporary greens and course closures have been the norm.

But we’re so over that. Squint hard enough and you can make out the golf season on the horizon.

Here’s five things that every golfer should getting excited about right now:

1. A break in the weather

At last! If the forecasters have got it right, then we’re in for a few weeks of much drier, sunnier weather. Not only is this great for golfers, but it’s the news every greenkeeper has been waiting for.

Hats off to our turf troopers who have been working around the clock to protect our courses during storm-whatever it’s name is.

Despite the challenging conditions, we think our courses will look their best ever this summer – we’ve put serious investment into our course maintenance resources this winter, ready for the season ahead.

So now let’s look forward to playing under par… not under water.

2. Lighter evenings

Lighter evenings are on the way. Fact. You’ll soon be able to sneak out for a few holes after work. And if you let your imagination run wild, in just a matter of weeks you’ll be wearing short sleeves.

Here’s to the end of pick n’ place and the start of firmer fairways and faster greens.

3. The Masters is around the corner. Amen.

Nothing shouts out ‘the golf season has loaded’ more than the Masters. The first Major of the year tees off at Augusta this April and we while the field is going to be smaller than usual (down to Augusta officals tightening entry criteria for LIV golfers) we reckon it’ll be an epic start to the golf season.

4. Your favourite event will be the AIG Women’s Open

The Masters will soon be on everyone’s lips, but the Major we’ll care most about in 2024 will be the Women’s Open at the Old Course.

Arguably, the men’s Major championship courses are a little ‘meh’ this year, so thank our women golfing stars for taking on St Andrews, for what will be a must-watch tournament.

5. Toptracer® Range at London Airlinks

London’s newest Toptracer® Range is fully open this February! Following a highly successful opening of the 18-hole course in May 2023, the next-gen driving range is crammed with the latest ball-tracking tech. High power LED floodlights mean you can get your golfing fix late into the evening.

Located just moments from junction 3 on the M4, making it the perfect place for you commuters to ‘arrive and drive’ after a busy day in the city.

So there we have it. There has never been a more exciting time in the game and soon everyone will be talking and playing golf. Can you think of more reasons?
