LONDON, 20th JULY 2022
In 1924 Richmond Park Golf Course opened its doors and announced to the world: ‘royalty and artisans are equally welcome’. This was barrier-breaking stuff at a time when golf was strictly for the select few.
Almost 100 years later and we’re still ‘go-to’ place for anyone wanting to try, learn and love golf. We’re always looking at ways to make a positive contribution to our local communities and our latest investment does just that.
This July sees the opening of an all-weather putting green. It provides an additional facility for our golf coaching team to carry out accessible and inclusive coaching services all-year round, following their successful completion of a training programme for adapted sports coaching.
Michael Chapman is Centre Manager at Richmond Park Golf Course and explains: “When researching the project, it became apparent that there are very few golf venues that offer this level of accessibility. The facility will form part of our future community engagement strategy, which will see our coaches working with local schools, hospitals and community centres to promote diversity and equality.”
Located next to our driving range, the putting green is free to use and provides a convenient place for golfers to hone their skills.
Whether you’re avid golfer or just ‘golf curious’, you and your family and friends are welcome to come along and make the most of our golfing facilities.
