We would like to introduce Ross Cook our new area course manager, we are delighted to have Ross managing all the courses in the South and I’m sure a lot of you have seen him around so here is a bit more about him;
My name is Ross Cook, I’ve got 17 years of greenkeeping experience starting straight from school as an apprentice. I started with Crown Golf where I spent 3 years working and obtaining my NVQ2. I then moved on to the Wisley golf club for 1 year to experience the top end of golf course quality and maintenance regimes. Crown Golf then offered me a job as Deputy Course Manager at Blue Mountain where I spent 2 more years and completed my NVQ3 qualification, from there I transferred to Merrist Wood golf club as deputy. From here I made the step into the corporately run Windlesham golf club as Deputy Course Manager where I stayed for 5 years, we held big celebrity charity day events and regional pro events yearly.
My first role as Course Manager came at Richmond Park back in 2017, I was here for a 2-year spell back then before I decided to move to Sherfield Oaks as Course Manager as it was closer to home in Reading, I spent 3 years there turning the courses around before being offered the great opportunity of moving back to Glendale Golf to become the Area Course Manager for the south. In this role, I will be overseeing and advising the other 4 clubs within the group alongside the day-to-day running of Richmond Park.
I have a wife of 8 years and 3 sons aged 9, 7 & 2 along with my fox red labrador Dexter who you’ll see running alongside me around the golf course most mornings. I play golf when I can but due to my very busy home life I only get out about 6 times a year but still manage to play off a handicap of 10, I was of single figures in my younger days. All my spare time is spent with my family other than the odd day out to go horse racing which is my other sporting enjoyment.
